Matisse had captured the beauty and sumptuous of exotic objects and female beauty in this composition. The focus of this work is the plethora of textures, patterns, and colors Matisse put on display. Many of these effects are enhanced by the gestural movement of the brushstrokes left visible in the thin layers of paint.
