Bowl of Apples on a Table
This simple painting show’s Matisse’s skill at distilling of detail and line to their simplest form. The round table has been flattened against the solid turquoise background in an almost distorted composition. The deconstruction and flat patches of color give ‘Bowl of Apples on a Table a solid, Cubist-inspired presence.’ (Chrysler museum of Art)
